Scholarship Winners
The 85th Annual Meeting of the Mid-Yellowstone Electric Cooperative took place on Wednesday, March 20th, 2024, at the Forsyth fairgrounds. Manager Jason Brothen unveiled the new Rate Schedule, introduced the staff, and praised lineman Brent Battenfield for achieving journeyman status. In addition to celebrating Battenfield's accomplishment, three scholarships were granted: the Basin Scholarship to Brianna Rainey, a $1,000.00 MYEC Scholarship to Mariska Fulton, a $500.00 MYEC Scholarship to Brianna Rainey, and a $1,000.00 luck of the draw Scholarship to Andrea Jo Hopf.
Former NRECA President and current NorVal Electric Co-Op President Chris Christensen captivated the audience with engaging stories and insights from his time with the national organization, blending humor and wisdom in his anecdotes. Board President Tim Fulton presented the annual financial report, underscoring the co-op's consistent growth and fiscal responsibility. Members expressed approval as Tim detailed the successful installation of new meters and equipment upgrades.
Discussions ranged from grid resilience improvements to community outreach programs for educating younger generations. Manager Jason Brothen expressed gratitude for everyone's involvement and dedication to the cooperative's mission. The evening concluded with Hors d'oeuvres by the Forsyth Country Club, fostering camaraderie among members and reinforcing the cooperative's role as a community hub.
